I was fighting with myself whether to put up my new year's post either here in blogspot or in my new domain. (Yes I have a new domain) After thinking it through, i reckon that it is only right that I did my new year post here at blogspot which will be my last post ever. So Adios 2008 and Adios blogspot, I've had a freakin awesome ride....

Oh Eight....has just passed...
I know I am a little late in posting up my new year's resolution and stuff like that since it is already like 2.15pm on the 01/01/09, and I should have like put this up before the new year but HEY, I believe in PARTYING first... before getting on to stuff like this..Maybe my old man is right. I Always seem to put fun before anything else.

Ahhh Oh Eight ! You have been amazing. DAP taking over Penang, the C's beating the lakers, The REDEEM TEAM winning the gold, OBAMA and I turned 23....the economic crisis looming ahead...

Wow personally 08 has been an eventful year for me. Firstly got really closed to a great bunch of peeps at work. Che and aunty you have been awesome being big sisters that I never have had. Tze En, Tay Zen and Justin, my dudes, my mates and my role models in the office for me (ok la maybe not tay zen laaaa....hahaha). Lil Girl for being a lil sister (hahah i know ure older) that i can play with in the office. If it wasn't for us two in the Group, the rest of them would be just boring and too matured/old/boring....hahaha

DIdn't get promoted this year, but screw that...I PASSED MY CPA PAPERS baybeh......that means no more studying, no more mugging, no more studying about accounting standards that i dont really care about..........plus i met some real cool guys at indiegoat.com who are covering the music scence in Penang where i can get involved in the local music scence.

I have also gained an interest in Corporate Social Responsibility. I think thats the direction I want to move into in the future. I dont know i dont knwo....just keeping my options open..

This year I made 2 trips. One to Langkawi and one to Thailand which was just awesome. I ordered a fender jaguar bass guitar in December. Im now driving my mum's city. Che got married. It was the 2nd wedding that i wore a coat/suit in and played guitar. I bought a domain! I had a wicked 23rd birthday party

BUT What I think is even more important and the most awesome, wicked, puff, cool, deck (put in your hippest word here) that happened in Oh Eight would be that i decided that i should make God more relevant in my life now. All of a sudden (don't ask me why) i got bored of life, got bored of my job, got bored of drinking, got bored of smoking, got bored of trying to sleep around and decided to help out my youth one Saturday arvo and realised life is nothing without GOD. You can set yourself to do everything in life; Money,Drugs, Sex, Booze and Rock and roll you name it and at the end the only thing that you haven't done in life is dying.

I have realised that in no matter what you do, if GOD is not there, damm your life is worthless. As Ecclesiastes says, life without GOD is like chasing after the wind, pointless. (OKay it said somehting along those lines :P). I've decided to trust GOD in everything I do. DOnt get me wrong that doesnt mean im not gonna work hard and do things myself. I am still gonna work hard, still gonna try and meet a hot chick etc etc but it just means that I'm not gonna worry whatever happens and try to do things my way. Be it in work, study or relationships, I am done trying to do things my own way now...I'm leaving it up to God. Awesome huh?

So this coming 2009, with the economic crisis looming, ppl are predicting it's gonna be one hell of a ride. But i'm positive! It's gonna be a great year. GOD is in control, I am happier than I have been since i got back from Melbourne. Bring it on oh nine!

Blogspot, you have served me well....I started you when I was bored and lonely in Melbourne. I think my first entry was a lil sad and depressing hahaha but I am ending you on a High note. Birds are flying in the air, and dannoisawesome!

i'm feeling shitty...and a lil disillusioned to be honest..

i reckon december is always a shitty time for auditors all around the malaysia. not only are your friends back from studying overseas and partying their guts out, you are stuck in the midst of peak period and everybody is just stressed out. plus it's christmas and new year, my favourite time of the year. when you were back studying it meant like full time partying from christmas to new year.

now it's just a sad month for me. but you know what? screw it. you have a choice whether to remain the way you feel or you can either do something about it. i've decided to do something about it and stop ranting and raving about shit i can't control.

On other matters non-emo, I have just been listening to the All of the Above album by Hillsong United. I usually don't listen to CCM to enjoy it. It's either for worshiping or I need to learn a song so that I can play it in church. But I must say that this album is totally different from the rest of the Hillsongs albums out there.

It has a lil post rockish or even a lil shoe gaze feel to it. I would even call it a little dark which is just awesome. When you're listening to a hillsongs album you would usually expect their songs to be a lil Pop Rockish or Pop Punkish but this album is really a big step forward.

It's not exactly Post Rockish Mogwai style (please not i said it has a LIL) but I would call it a gateway for Contempary Christian music to other genres.

my office can be considered fairly young in age with the majority of our office under 30 (DOB between 1978 to 1986). if you compare that with other companies, i reckon we are pretty young in age.

even then, i feel there is this gap between those born in 84,85,86 and those older peeps (sorry che and aunty)...and i think as time goes by and those born in 87 and 88 comes in to the working force, i think you will see even a greater divide...

there is a very interesting article that was on the sydney morning herald here.....

it basically discussed the gap between generation X and Gen Y in the working world...

basically the Gen X generation are ppl born in the year 1965s to about 1980s and gen-yers are those who were born in the 80s and 90s. i have even a youth pastor telling me that gen-yers are those in the 90s....i would tend to disagree with that cause i reckon i belong to the gen-y ...the gen y is the internet generation....i grew up on the internet...my whole life almost revolves around it....im certainly a Y-er

thats why i'm pissed that they blocked facebook at work....thats your source of destressing...damm...there goes your freedom at work...no personal mail, no msn no facebook....Strike any1?

However reading the above statements in my CPA study materials, made me think on how this is so applicable to how the music scene/industry is in the world today especially in Penang and how people define Great Music

Too many times I wonder whether or not people actually listen to a certain song because they really dig or enjoy the music or whether they are listening to it just because it has been overplayed so many times through out the day and they are subconsciously told by radio, movies and MTV that the song is great.....................

Update

I've been getting involved with things really close to my heart.

MUSIC and CSR (hahaha not really that close but yeaaa kind of).

I've been helping the guys out at indiegoat to help cover gigs and to write articles. We are trying to cover anything arty around in Penang. So if any of you guys know of some local gigs, art galleries,dramas, or ANYTHING to do with Penang arts, that you would like to promote just let me know and we will put it up on our website.

WHats even more deck is that, I have been helping out in my church's youth teaching em bass and just hanging out with em. Being with the youths is awesome. It totally revitalises you. They are not tied down by the horrors and work.....check em out...i think they are totally deck...

I have been listening to the latest The Cure album entitled 4:13 Dream. Not gonna exactly give a review on it because I haven't had the time to go through the whole album yet, but I love the first track on it "Underneath the Stars". Sounds really really post rockish....it reminds me of Explosions in the Sky or Whitelight

The Cure currently has the whole album on its Myspace page. Go check it out....to those who think the music I listen to is noisy trust me you will like this....

Real musicians perform and write their own songs. Not songs that record labels force them to sing.

Indie Thinking; do YOU have it?

My company always encourages us to have our own independent thinking (I've created the term indie thinking in short) whenever we perform our work. Professional accounting bodies embodies the importance of independent thinking by incorporating this idea of independent thinking in their professional syllabusss which their members will have to take. In fact it can be even argued that the notion of freedom lies is the ability of one to have it's own independent thoughts.

However, in reality there our thoughts and ideas will always be constrained to what we have been taught in school or through our own education. Our independent thinking therefore is never really independent because they will always be influenced by some school of thought. For instance, an accountant who belongs to accounting body ABC will always base their so called independent thinking and judgements on their education received by that accounting body and will be influenced by their concepts.

So the main question would be, 'Can someone truely have indie thinking which is free from any constraint that an education organisation puts in place on an individual?'

It is very rare that Malaysia gets a chance to watch really great bands perform live in Malaysia. If you think Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance are GREAT then aren't you a sucker for MTV's bullshit and propaganda. And for any person with 6 inches and balls packed in their crotch think that "Hey but we have Westlife here before what?", I have now struck you off my friends list permanently.........

What Penang got to see on Monday was freakin awesome. A gig featuring:-

Conqest for Death:- A hardcore metal band from the States.

and................

My Disco:- A minimalist rock band hailing from the land down under. I have never heard anything so minimal which was so intense. They sound so freakin good LIVE and much better than listening it off mp3.

Now I must say that I have grown out from all the mosh pits and crowd surfing but It was great to see it all happening on Monday. Reminds me of younger and happier days.

Penang:- 10 Feet UNDER water

In the wee hours of Thursday morning, Penang's drainage system failed on us Penang-ons (why can't we be Penangons instead of Penangites?).

When you combine a crappy drainage system and heavy monsoon rains what you get are floods with drain water with all its gunk and junk spewing out on our roads. Cars were going against one way streets just to avoid the jams. Motorcyclist soaked and drenched and good ol Danno had to park his car in the opposite road from his house and waddle in shitty drain water......

Penang's Ultimate Hangout

Probably one of the most chilled out nights ever at the studio according to Alvin. Beers and smokes and a quick jam session followed by a late night supper at Green House is just freakin awesome. Before I let the pictures do the talking, let me first do a little promo for Penang's very own indie scence.

The Soundmaker Studio is most probably the only place where you can go for gigs and check out local bands as well as a few international bands which pop by. If you are sick of the useless crap they bombard on the radio or in the clubs check out Penang's only Indie website by clicking here.

“Bollywood in Phuket”

There is only one result when you load up three tour buses with overworked and overstressed PwC-ians heading to Phuket on a Thursday night.

“MADNESS.”

Months before the trip, we could see various PwCians in the Penang office showing various behaviours such as hair-pulling and some were even spotted crawling up our office walls. To say that we needed deserved this break is an overstatement.

After a gruelling 16 hour bus ride (including toilet breaks and such), we finally arrived in Phuket just in time for breakfast. We quickly stopped by at a restaurant to have our breakfast. We stuffed ourselves with food as quickly as possible as we were waiting impatiently for our first activity, a Thai massage and Spa treatment. The male population of PwC could not hold back their eagerness and excitement at the prospect of getting a massage by a beatiful Thai lady.

Once we reached the spa (which was called “The Mermaid Spa”), we were given an abundant choice of eucalyptus, rose, sandalwood, orange and many more, as our choice of our massage oil.

At this point of time there was a cry of disappointment from the males as we had found out that we were only be given JUST a traditional Thai massage. Never the less, a massage after 16 hours on a bus was just what we all had needed.

Before our massage, we were spoilt with a steam bath as well as a dip in the spa’s Jacuzzi. With our muscles massaged and our stress released, we headed off for lunch.

After an exquisite lunch at Phuket’s biggest international buffet, we stopped by a temple to admire it’s splendour and beauty. We quickly head off to a extreme outdoor park where we could take part in elephant riding, rifle shooting, archery and a chance to ride on an ATV.

As the sun began to set, we were taken to the hotel to check in and prepare ourselves for dinner.
Dinner would be at an abalone farm by the seaside which was an hour away from the hotel. All throughout the bus ride, we could hear tummies rumbling and the words of “ARE WE THERE YET?” The agonising wait seemed unbearable at that time.
After what seemed longer than Frodo’s journey to Mordor, we had finally reached our destination. We were greeted with the wonderful hospitality that the Thai’s are famous for once we hopped off from the bus. With flowers hanging around our neck we were ushered to a hall where we finally thought we could fill our stomachs to our heart’s content.

However instead of dinner, we had to bear with a 20 minute presentation on the wonders of abalone given to us by the owner who apparently did not have any concerns about our growling stomachs. Although several guys had to be restrained from smashing the projector we actually did enjoy the presentation and managed to learn a lot about Abalone (just don’t ask us now anymore)

For dinner, we were given the chance to savour the wonders of Thai cuisine. From the mango kerabu to the wonders of tomyum, we were experiencing what Thailand was about. FOOD!
Satisfied and with our stomachs filled, we all headed off to the beach to light some lanterns for good luck. The night sky was lilted beautifully with all our lanterns.

We were given free time after dinner and most of us decided to enjoy the bustling nightlife of Phuket. While there were a few of us who went to a local cabaret show, the majority of us could be found on Bhang La road where we partied the night away!

Day 2, Coral Island

After a quick breakfast, we quickly left the hotel to take a short trip to Chalong pier where we took a 15 minute speed boat ride to Coral Island known locally as Koh Hae. Coral Island is a beautiful getaway destination located nine kilometres southeast of Phuket.

On this beautiful paradise we had our team building activities such as a relay race and a game called “The Human Knot” where we would be tied to each other in weird positions and had to untangle the human knot without letting go of hands.

We were given time after the activities to have our own free time to explore the wonders as well as participate in the activities provided on the island such as snorkelling, scuba diving, parasailing and a banana boat ride. However the main attraction would be the very unique “Underwater Sea Walker.”

The Underwater Sea Walker is an amazing experience where the participant will wear an astronaut helmet and just freely walk under the sea. A couple of our fellow PwCians are now proud that they are one of the few who have ever tried this unique activity.
Soaked and sunburnt, we had lunch by the beach before proceeding back to the hotel where we would enjoy the rest of the day shopping and relaxing under the Phuket sun before our big dinner.

Bollywood Night

As the clock struck 8, the hotel ballroom had suddenly turned into a Bollywood Grammy award show. Our very own Shah Rukh Khans and Ashiwari Rais could be seen across the hallway. An out of place Superman was also spotted during the night. With all the laughter and flashes from cameras, one could be forgiven that they mistook the ballroom as a Bollywood movie set.

Following our PWC tradition, this would be the time when we would “celebrate” our new promotes. As usual, our dear promotes were given the honour to entertain us for the night. The line-up event for the night for our promotes was our very own PWC Fear Factor Challenge!

While having our dinner, our dear Director Mr Mike Lee Then Thong, went up on stage with his guitar and started serenading us with his charming voice and beautiful melodies. Many girls started fainting across the hall. A Mr Lee Fan Club would soon be in the making.

With our hearts entertained and our stomach filled with glorious food, the night drew to an end. The night ended with a group photo shoot and a dance floor where we danced till the hotel’s staff chased us out! At this point of time, some of us had already passed out while others continue their merry making into the streets of Phuket.

Last Day

Early the next morning, we were awaken by a 6am morning call. Kicking and screaming, we proceeded to pack our bags and headed down for breakfast. We then quickly headed to our buses to leave the beautiful island of Phuket. As many of us were exhausted from the night before, snores could be heard throughout the journey.

On the way home we stopped by Krabi (for lunch) and a famous Tiger Temple before heading to Hatyai for a short dinner and last minute shopping.

We eventually reached Penang at 12am. With our stomachs filled with seafood tom yum and mango kerabu and our hearts overwhelmed with joy and happiness, our three day rampage of Phuket would never be forgotten.

There is nothing like the sweet taste of Redbull and Jagermeifter. The thing with these bad boys is that it taste so freakin nice you don't feel a thing and you can smash em. The effect comes later when you're lying down on the ground by the poolside wondering if the bird flying in the sky is actually superman.

I'll post up separate posts by the end of this week about the two events that TOTALLY changed my life (okay im exaggerating.....). So for anyone still visiting my blog just wait for it....

Guys Beware: Girls sound sexier when they are fertile

It's been awhile and I haven't posted anything up again. Damm aren't we auditors boring people?

I have been listening to a lot of Rage Against the Machine recently and just realised how much music has changed throughout the years. During the late 90s nu metal was the way to go after the grunge scene died down before that. From Woodstock to Ozzfest to Big Day Out nu-metal bands would highlight the tour.

From the Malaysian point of view, I feel that this was the time period where the mid 80 babies (1984- 1987) started a music shift from the mainstream. Now I am not disrespecting the older generation in their music taste but it was in 1996/1997 (mid 80s babies would have just started high school) where the internet hit Malaysian shores where the window to download songs had opened. For the older generation they had to rely on tv and radio and the trip down to the cd shop for their music. Without the internet, I believe it would have been hard to tap in a variety of music. I take off my hat to those who were able to do so and not confine their music tastes to Boyz2Men and Boyzone.

With the internet, youths started downloading all kinds of music. Bands unheard of or who had their cd's banned by our Malaysian government was reaching our homes with no restrictions. Even though Pop music was our staple meal in music (and I even believe so today), the doors to venture into other forms of music was widely opened.

My musical journey started in 1990 when I was a kid in Australia where I had just picked up the piano and played my dad's favourite songs like "Memory" from cats. In school we had music classes and we were taught to sing songs like Inner Circle's sexual song "Sweat" to classics like The Beatles "Let it be." In 1994 I hit the pop stage of my life where I would East-17 and Peter Andre would be played on cassettes during lunch breaks in school. My dad bought me my first album that year too. Billy Joel's "River of Dreams"

When I got back to Malaysia my musical journey continued. When I was 10 and 11 I was listening to stuff like 911 and BSB. The year that changed everything would be in 1997 where I fell in love with a british band called Oasis. "Be here now" would be my 2nd album that I would buy and it would start my musical journey in Rock.

From there onwards my music taste changed from Hip Hop to Punk to Nu Metal to Metal to Hip Hop to Jazz to Alternative Rock to Trance to and too many other genres I can't name here. Today I am happy to say I am cool with all kinds of music. I can mosh with you in the mosh pit. I can wave my hands in the air just like I don't really care too. I can dress up and listen to jazz in a hotel and I can also go indie with you. Once in awhile I'll head to Red Box and sing a moffatts tune just to feel 11 again.

Whatever you listen to, be open, be free. Catch the groove/high/beat of whatever music you hear and enjoy the ride along!

His name was Captain DisecTo

His name was Captain DisecTo. The good ol' captain pilots a PF-6558A spaceship which is the size of a small little island. His mission was to transport 3 choolio aliens and himself to Koala Muds. The captain himself was a Choolio alien, however these 3 choolios were choco choco Choolios. The captain on the other hand was a AMS Choolio. Even though they were the same species, the differences between the both types of Choolios were vastly different.

He had fetched two of these Choolios before. The first was alright. Her face shun brightly as the moon and he could do with her company during the trip. The second one however, was hell.

The second Choolio was like a girl giving you a blowjob for the first time. In short; Painful. The moment this Choolio opened her mouth, she was more naggy than your mother-in law. Add a whiny high pitched tones to that and you get Man's greatest torture device. On the previous mission, our main hero, the captain, nearly took out his F16 blaster gun to send her back to the dark ages. However he managed to control himself. He would have be frowned upon by his superiors at work. Even though by blasting her he would indeed be doing a great favour to the world, the second one was still a part of his team and the captain puts team in front of everything else

The captain didn't know too much about the 3rd Choolio. He only felt that the 3rd Choolio looked weird as she had red streaks of maggi mee on the top of her head. He hoped that the 3rd one would not be as bad as 2nd Choolio.

Even with technological advances, our hero's journey to Koala Muds would take approximately four hours. This would be the ultimate test for our hero. Could he survive the journey without taking out his blaster gun? Stay tuned for more........

On 4 June 2008 the whole Malaysia became a chaotic mess. The news had just come out that our beloved government would be stopping fuel subsidies and will offer a rebate instead to car owners when they renewing their road tax. Fuel prices will be raised from Rm1.92 to RM2.70 per litre.

True to the Malaysian spirit every mothafucka with four (and two too!) wheels rushed to the petrol stations to pump their tanks before the end of the day causing massive traffic jams on roads leading to petrol stations everywhere in the country.

Ok, so you save what RM 40 to RM 50 now but won't you still have to pump your petrol next week? And you have to wait like what 1 hour before you could pump your petrol. Malaysians will always be Malaysians.

So you might be thinking "What the hell are you going to do about it mate? This is a burden to the rakyat!"

It has been almost 6 years since I have last taken the bus in Penang. Back in the days where me and my mates would used to jump from the various gates of Penang Free School and run to the bus stop to catch a bus to One Stop or Gurney, buses were dirty, smelly and we were squashed in like a can of sardines. However, I had decided to let the Malaysia transport system redeem itself on Thursday morning.

Being true to the wannabe aussie poser inside of me, I dressed up to work that day, wore my sunnies and had my mp3 playing The Cure "Friday I'm in love" at full blast (Yea I know, it was a bloody Thursday. But hey it's my favourite song to listen to before I go to work. ) To be honest with you as I strutted towards the bus stop (pic below), I did not expect much of a change from my last experiences on Penang buses.

The wonderful thing about living near Dato Keramat Road is that all the Air Itam buses as well as some Greenlane ones will use the road to go down to the Jetty Bus terminal. After a short 5 minute wait a bus had finally arrived.

"Encik, ada pergi Jalan Bahari (the road nearest to my office)"

"Ada, naik naik. Satu Ringgit!"

To my surprise the bus was actually pretty clean and wasn't that packed (pic below). Of course some idiots had vandalised the back seats by writing " Ahmad cinta kepada Ali" (Ahmad loves Ali) and " Rohani hisap kote kuat kuat kao kao" (Rohani sucks dick damm hard damm well) but other than that there was no funky smell nor was it dirty or anything. WICKEDDDDDDD

Oh yea, I actually got a lot of stares from the peeps on the bus. Must be the sunnies as well as all my head bobbing that I was doing.(Song had changed to Sexy Can I)

Note to self: "Musn't look to cool on a Penang bus. Might get robbed. I am not in Melbourne. Repeat plenty of times"

After about a 15 minute bus ride, I reached my stop and got down. Walked another 5 minutes to my office and started bragging to everyone about my bus trip. Started by telling the rest of them how they are so freakin spoilt and how they do not love the environment and how they should be shot for not trying to save the ozone like me.

Then you get a couple of Asian blonde women (aka bimbos) who went like " WAHHHHHH you really took Rapid arr?? Not scarryy arrr? Not hot arrrrrrr????" Like yea woman, Danno ain't some spoilt rich brat that can't take buses. There are a lot of low-income to middle-income (as well as students who skip school) people who still depend on the bus as their main source of transportation.

Some haters refused to believe that Danno took a bus, so I saved this as proof:-

Dave was always a man with a plan. Without fail, he would sip his bubbly on New Year’s Eve and read out a list of his New Year's resolution to his buddies.

".....No more smoking......." he blurts out.

".....I will stop calling Dominoes Pizza and ask them for Wantons...."

".....I will learn to stop honking overweight females who cross the road and I will not only stop and smile at the above average looking chick..."

Dave's buddies just look and smile at each other. Five months down the road they know Dave will be having a ciggy in his hand driving down Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah honking at fatties crossing the road. Whats worse is that he would be most probably be smoking even more and start throwing stuff at beautiful but overweight females who cross the road.

Sound all to familiar? Thats because Dave did not have what I call a "Mid Year Reflection Review" Many of us have brilliant plans. Many of us know how to dream big. However where we fail is our follow up plan. So friends and buddies, pimps and hoes, dudes and dudettes, mates and shelias, here is Danno's Mid Year Reflection Review. Ok wait for ittt............ If you want to know where the government screws humanity up, this is where they do it. Nicotine has killed more people than Heroin, Extacy, Cocaine and Marijuana. Research studies show that Nicotine is as hard to give up compare to hardcore drugs such as Heroin and Meth. Yet, governments don't even classify this as a drug. Now I am not going to go all hippie on you and say that sniffing coke is better than smoking but even God knows I need help on this.

What Danno is going to do:- Earlier on in the year I have managed to cut down to 3 a day. It suddenly went up to a lot ever since my exam periods. For the rest of the year I am trying to learn how to cope with stress without nicotine.

What YOU can do:- Give me reminders on how much I have smoked today. These reminders help me remind myself how much I have smoked. Also when in a group while eating, do not let me light up in front of you. Force me to go away if I want to smoke. This helps as I am too lazy to walk out from the restaurant etc.

2. Being positive in tough situations

I think no one knows this but yes, that was one of my goals in the beginning of the year. I think for this one I have failed miserably on this one. Its that special time of the year again.....It's freaking December baybehh....

Decembers used to be cool when you are studying. Decembers are long holiday breaks where everyone goes back to Penang. It's a time where you meet everyone in Gurney or Uppper Penang Road again. Friends, buddies, ex-es and long lost friends. December is that special time of the year.

But dangggggg....December is a shit time for all auditors right now. The notorious "Peak Period" that auditors face, starts in the month of December. Can you believe it? Im freakin working on Christmas and New yEar's eve. I still haven't got used to it yet I reckon anyway. Been staying back till around 7 8 sometimes even 9 just working my ass off...It sucks.

Anywhooo....that just makes this Holiday Season even more wicked. The past few Christmases and New Years have been a bit of a bore to me. Maybe it's because as you get older and you hang out even more, you appreciate partying even less. It's like the boy who wished for it to be Christmas everyday and got his wish. The first few days he was having a blast. Presents everyday and delicious food every night. But after 2 weeks he was freakin sick of Christmas. Life is like that isnt it?

Well thats why this year, It's gonna be a wicked Christmas and New Years for me...no matter what I do...Someone mentioned that "Happiness is a choice".

I choose to have a blast for Christmas and New year this time around. God knows I need it.....badly...

Annual Trip

The Never Ending Journey

Taman Negara, a place of serenity, peace and calm. Being a preserved jungle, Taman Negara has remained a place of solitude to its various inhabitants for many years…………..until September 2007! For 3 days in early September, the PwC invasion had begun.

The invasion started off with a 11 hour bus ride journey from the small lil tortoise shaped island known as Penang. With 4 express buses, we slowly made our way to the serenity of Taman Negara. Little did the monkeys of Taman Negara know, trouble was slowly brewing in the air!

After what it seemed like forever (with
way TOO many toilet breaks), we finally reached the Rainforest Hotel which would be the home to 90 plus PwCians for the next few days. Although groggy and hungry, nothing could dampen our spirits as we noisily made our grand entrance to Taman Negara.

Shooting the Rapids, Meeting Orang Asli and BBQ

When you are traveling on the bus for 11 hours while munching Twisties and Rota Rota, anything you eat after that tastes like a 5 star Shangri-la dinner. That was how lunch was to us. Lunch was edible at best, but one could never tell by the way we swarmed the food.

After a short break after lunch, we headed off to the Tembeling River (which is the main tributary of the Pahang River) for our first activity which was shooting the rapids. We left in around 10 boats up the river as our guide slowly navigated through a couple of slow rapids and finally came to a stop after a 10 minute journey.

Our individual guides had to explain to us that due to the number of us and safety reasons, going for stronger rapids would be risky and dangerous. However they could would show us how they create their own “rapids.” And then they did. With 10 boats racing through the river, each boat started a HUGE water fight by sticking out their oar every time we passed another boat which got everyone of us soaking wet.

The fight ended temporarily when we reached an orang asli settlement by the river. Many of our Pwcians were very well amazed on how these people could live without electricity and water. The “ketua kampung” graciously showed us how to start a fire with just rocks and stones as well as using their blow pipes (which they were selling at RM 25 by the way, not so “ULU” huh) to hunt animals.

We ended the day with a lovely BBQ dinner back in the hotel which was followed by a mid night hike before we went to bed.

George of the Jungle and Telematch

The morning started off with a quick breakfast and then we headed of to the highest canopy walk in the world. Our endurance was tested as we had to hike 45 minutes into the jungle to reach our destination point. After a lot of sweat, panting and tears, we managed to overcome the treacherous hike (okay…it wasn’t that bad) and finally reached the canopy walkway.

The canopy walkway is a walk across a 400 meter man-made bridge, suspended 25 to 40 meters above the ground which is the longest in the world of its kind.

Next up on the schedule, was a group tele-match. We were separated into different teams and competed in games where our intelligence, team-work and physical abilities were tested. Unfortunately, our last game which was with water balloons was called off due to heavy rain. However this did not stop us from throwing water balloons at each other in the rain. Many used this opportunity to try and soak their seniors or managers! With dinner coming up, we all went back to the hotel to prepare for the big event coming up.

I Like to DISCOOOOO! – Annual Dinner

Our theme for the night was Disco with a catch. Those born in the 80s had to dress up old school style while the oldies were forced to dress up like young ones – HIP HOP STYLE. With the hall all nicely decorated, many people started coming in. There were rumoured spottings of 50 cent (Eng Cheng), Snoop Dogg (Mr Cho) and Britney Spears (Kelly Khoo) in the crowd. There was also a bouncer who was brought from the 70s who was spotting an afro and a goatee.

As the night progressed, many games were played by newly promotes during the year. Many laughs and moments were shared by all our PwCians. The night ended with a group photo shoot and a dance floor where we danced till the wee hours of the morning!

The last Hike

Early the next morning, many sleepy/drunk/tired PwCians slowly crawled out of bed (with some kicking and screaming). We took a short boat ride to Lata Berkoh where we could see view the strong rapids caused by a nearby waterfall.

The trip ended with lunch at the hotel and yet another photo shoot. We boarded the bus tired and sleepy but yet we all knew that the past 3 days will always remain in our memories.

Disneyland after Dark Vol 2

I was listening to the radio that day, and I finally found out why the chicken actually crossed the road. The reason being, he wanted to fucking blow up hitzfm mixfm and flyfm with 100 cases of C4. Fuck you can switch between the radio stations and because their playlists are so fucking similar you wouldn't be able to tell the fucking difference. Mix Fm playing Avril lVAGINAe's Girl friend?? Oh hang on, hitz will be playing it 25 minutes later. Oh turn it on Fly and you fucking hear "hey hey you you." Malaysia needs a revamp in its radio stations BADLY.

Oh yea dear diary, just a little secret between me and you. I hate George Bush. I hate Sadam. I hate Malaysia. I hate whites. I hate Chinese. I hate Italians. You can fucking screw the POMs and the Kiwis as well. Australia is a litter of criminals and the Yanks should be called Wanks. Actually FUCK everybody in the world except ME. My Tribute to the Croc Hunter

You know, I will be honest with you all. I was never really enthusiastic about nature shows. Back in Penang we don't even subscribe to the Nature programs. (Although my mum would most probably would want to swap my ESPN for it) However, I declare myself very lucky to have caught some of the adventures of Steve Irwin, the Croc Hunter before he tragically passed away on the 4th of September.

Steve Irwin, the guy who wrestled with the crocodiles. The guy who risked his life just so that he could educate the world on Aussie outback animals. Steve Irwin, the tough macho man who loved the outback so much that he wept like a baby when one of his beloved crocs died. There was never a man that was so passionate and dedicated about animals as Steve Irwin was.

I was very fortunate enough to have visited his zoo on the 11th of July 2006. What made me even more lucky was that he and his family were filming some shots and they dropped by to wave and say a few words to the crowd.

My aunt and cousin told me "Thats worth a million bucks!" It is pretty rare that they would be at the zoo as they would often be filming for one of their nature shows. Now that I think about it, their words have really struck me. I may have been the last ever Penangnite to have ever seen the famous Steve Irwin.

Steve Irwin, the face of Australia. Ask any of my mates back in Penang who John Howard is and you'll most probably get "Who da fuck is that?" But EVERYONE knows who Steve Irwin was. REST in PEACE, Steve. We will never get to hear you say "CRIKEY!" ever again.

Ahh, I just realised one fucked up thing, I SUCK at blogging. No new updates, my blog has no groupies....ahh this is what it feels like to SUCK.

WELL if there are any loosers who are reading THE MOST SUCKIEST blog on the web created by the MOST NON SUCKIEST person in the world, here is a quick update what I've been up to:-

Oh yea...to all you fuckers out there (esp. in Malaysia) "Only retards wear their collars up" I mean what the fuck are you trying to do? Its just so bloody retarded.

I can't actually believe that I would be going back to Penang so bloody soon. Although there is no place like home, man there are just too many retards who wear their collars up, listen to only mainstream stuff, loves to shuffle but has never been to melbourne (Oh i fucking hate shufflers anyway. Go screw yourselves and get a life you bloody junkies) and most probably be playing DOTA 24/7. I mean I have not much beef with all those things mentioned, (just the collars) but thats like the only sub-culture of ppl that Malaysia has in general.

In Melbourne you get your Goths, your punks, the ravers, your stoners, your acid junkies, your speed junkies, the intellectual, the Footy Junkies and the soccer junkies, JUNKIES and you get ppl like me. Ppl who drink beer, eat nachos, talk shit about EVS (EVS means whatever) and who are just having a fucking Blast!!

Bloody Hell its been ages since I've updated my blog and Ive been as free as hell. Just too lazy i guess and I've been just bumming around doing nothing much having a couple of beers and ordering pizzas almost everyday. One major accomplishment, I have become a non smoker from 2/7/2006 and to be honest it hasnt been working hehehheh. BUT this date is special cause that is the date that i realised how much i EFFING HATE SMOKING. I am a drug addict. I am addicted to Nicotine. Nicotine kills more people than heroin.

Oh yea I have been going to the gym quite often too as well. all part and parcel of my major plan to quit smoking. Oh yea i bought 2 NBA jersey's as well. A Dwyane Wade and Manu Giniobli.

I am actually writing this out of bordeom and im still stuck on whether i should sleep or stay awake till my flight. Its 2.35 am and the airport shuttle is picking me up at 7am. If you all know me, if i do fall asleep now i might miss my shuttle and im kinda worried. But i feel like i can doze off any time now so im in a bit of a dilema...anyway bye bye melbourne for 10 days! Sunshine and warmth here i come!!!!

Look closely at the picture on the left. Thats what I saw through my eyes last Friday night after dinner. Yup, Britney, Christina, Justin and Fred went cypress hill for the night. Learnt that Justin gets paranoid, Britney gets hyper and Christina is one hell of a good actor. And Fred? Sleepy as usual. Sleepy and you can feel your body is just floating in the air.

Besides the compression session (Reliving woodstock, flying high in the sky above...you get my point) the weekend for me has been great. Watched the FA Cup final last weekend and what else can I say. Liverpool, the greatest club in the world are the comeback Kings. After learning to never give up on Liverpool after last year's European Champions League Final, I never had a doubt that my beloved Liverpool would go down so easily. Down 3-2 with just 4 minutes of extra time to go, Stevie G hits a 35 yard stunner. Amazing...totally amazing. With that Liverpool tied the score 3-3 and held on to win in penalties. You'll never walk alone folks, You'll never walk alone.

Arsenal, Manure and Chelski fans out there you all can never achieve what liverpool has. How many european championships do we have? Not 1, not 2 but 5. Beat that Manure and Chelski.

The End of Fun and Games, NBA playoffs - Round 2

Its the 8th of May. If you count out the point that i was sick, I had a great weekend. 2 bday parties (Carmei and Kathlyn), booze, great food and booze (what else do you need?). Well i guess its back to my books. First paper is on the 6th of June. I've shaved and planned to get a haircut to signify getting back on track on the road to becoming an accontant. If i had the money i would do a tattoo just to remind myself of what ive got to do just to achieve my goal. But fuck, im broke so i guess shaving and cutting my hair will be enough.

Sportswise, its been great as well. Although Liverpool didnt managed to sneak in 2nd over Manure, i believe we had a great season. We achieved a club record of 11 consecutive wins, amounted a total of 82 points, we beat Chelski to reach the FA Cup Final plus we got our GOD, Robbie Fowler back for next year.

NBA....2nd round has started and there was no upsets from the 1st round. Kobe almost pulled his Lakers over the Suns but they eventually lost the series 4 -3. My 2 favourite teams are playing head to head. I love both the Heat and Nets...its gonna be one hell of a series to watch, although im hoping that the Heat will pull it off. Shaq was the first jersey i ever owned, My dad bought it in Melbourne for me plus Dwyane Wade? Just love how he balls. If they do win, i would be sad though. Jason Kidd was and still is one of my fav. players. PLus u add Vinsanity and RJ to it and the fact that if the Nets loose, one of their owners named Jay-Z and his hot gal Beyonce won't be courtside anymore.

Anyway gonna hit the books. Will upload some pics or something later...cherrio and fuck off!

With this post, i finally popped my cherry for being a blogspot blogger. Use to have my blogs on friendster and on multiply but i feel that you don't have much control on those 2 blogs. So yea I am shifting to blogspot or as my title says I am getting my cherry popped on blog spot.
